A Prefeitura de Vila Velha está retirando caramujos das áreas de restinga do município. Com o período das chuvas, aumenta o número desses animais em áreas de vegetação. Em Vila Velha, a incidência tem preocupado frequentadores da praia

Equipes de limpeza estão montando armadilhas nas áreas de restinga para atrair os animais e facilitar a coleta. “O serviço ocorrerá até a diminuição da incidência dos animais em vias públicas. A população que frequenta a orla não deve mexer nos animais, pois a Prefeitura vai promover a retirada”,  disse Marizete de Oliveira, secretária de Serviços Urbanos.

O caramujo costuma se desenvolver em locais como terrenos baldios, restinga, hortas, plantações e áreas em que existem entulhos. Eles são considerados uma praga agrícola, sem predadores naturais e hospedeiros de vermes capazes de provocar doenças.

A população é responsável pela coleta dos animais em suas residências. A secretaria da Saúde recomenda a coleta manual, com a utilização de luvas ou sacolas plásticas, para evitar o contato da pele com o muco desses animais. Feita a coleta, deve-se aplicar cal virgem sobre os caramujos. Em seguida, é importante que as conchas sejam quebradas, pois elas podem se tornar criadouros para os ovos do Aedes aegypti. Após esse processo, os animais mortos devem ser enterrados. A população pode obter informações por meio da Ouvidoria Municipal 162.

Atenção às dicas:

 – Os moluscos devem ser coletados sempre com uma proteção nas mãos, como luvas descartáveis ou sacolas plásticas;

– Não se deve usar veneno, sal ou outras substâncias que podem contaminar o ambiente e não afetam o molusco. Somente o cal virgem vai matar tanto os ovos quanto o animal adulto;

– Os caracóis recolhidos devem ser enterrados em uma cova profunda (aproximadamente 40 cm), utilizando o cal virgem no fundo da vala;

– Jamais ingeri-lo;

– Não transportá-los nem jogá-los vivos em áreas de vegetação.
