Dentistas selecionam jovens para receber tratamento gratuito

Hoje é o Dia Mundial do Sorriso e os jovens capixabas têm uma ótima oportunidade para cuidar dos dentes de graça. O programa Dentista do Bem, da OSCIP Turma do Bem, irá selecionar milhares de jovens de baixa renda em todo o Brasil para receber tratamento odontológico gratuito. Esta será a quarta edição da Maior Triagem Odontológica do Mundo. A ação acontecerá simultaneamente em cerca 300 municípios do Brasil, outros 10 países da América Latina e Portugal. A expectativa é que mais de 60 mil jovens sejam triados nesse dia.

Aqui no Espírito Santo as escolhas acontecem em Vitória e Cachoeiro.

O objetivo do evento é identificar adolescentes de baixa renda, com idade entre 11 e 17 anos, que necessitam de tratamento odontológico e proporcionar-lhes qualidade de vida por meio do acesso à saúde bucal. De acordo com Organização Mundial de Saúde mais de 20 milhões de brasileiros nunca foram a um dentista.

Documentação

Para participar o jovem deve ter entre 11 e 17 anos, estar acompanhado de um responsável e portar RG, comprovante de residência e de matrícula em escola pública.

A triagem  

O processo é simples, rápido e não invasivo: o dentista faz um exame visual da condição bucal de cada jovem e preenche uma ficha com dados sobre a saúde bucal e a condição socioeconômica da família.

A seleção 

Após a triagem, é elaborado um dossiê de cada criança e adolescente com a ficha de avaliação, uma cópia do comprovante de residência e a autorização dos pais ou responsáveis para que o tratamento seja realizado. A seleção é feita por meio da aplicação de um índice de prioridade, que beneficia as crianças e os adolescentes mais pobres, com problemas bucais mais graves e os mais velhos, que estão mais próximos do primeiro emprego. Cada selecionado recebe uma carta com o nome e o endereço do dentista voluntário que será responsável pelo seu tratamento; para facilitar o acesso, a TdB encaminha o beneficiário para o consultório mais próximo da sua residência.

O tratamento

Os dentistas voluntários atendem, em seus próprios consultórios, as crianças e os adolescentes selecionados até eles completarem 18 anos. Curativo, preventivo e educativo, o tratamento é totalmente gratuito e completo, incluindo, se necessário, radiografias, ortodontia, próteses e implantes, por exemplo.
