Banco Mundial reduz expectativa de crescimento da economia brasileira

O Banco Mundial reduziu a previsão de crescimento da economia brasileira este ano. A atualização do documento Perspectivas Econômicas Mundiais, divulgado neste domingo (4), prevê crescimento do Produto Interno Bruto (PIB), a soma de todos os bens e serviços produzidos no país, de 0,3%. A estimativa ficou 0,2 ponto percentual menor do que a informada em janeiro e está abaixo da projeção do mercado financeiro (0,5%).

Mesmo com expectativa de crescimento menor, o banco ressalta que o Brasil deve sair “lentamente” da recessão neste ano. “Indicadores de atividade melhoraram, incluindo a retomada do crescimento da produção industrial e expansão das exportações, assim como ganhos de confiança. Entretanto, o país continua a lutar contra o crescimento do desemprego e as consideráveis necessidades de ajuste fiscal”, diz o documento.

Em 2018, o Banco Mundial espera que o crescimento do Brasil chegue a 1,8%, a mesma projeção divulgada em janeiro. “O crescimento na América Latina e no Caribe deverá se fortalecer para 0,8% em 2017, quando o Brasil e a Argentina emergem da recessão e o aumento dos preços das commodities [matérias-primas com cotação internacional] apoia os exportadores agrícolas e de energia”, diz o relatório. A previsão para o crescimento da região em 2018 é 2,1%.

A previsão para o crescimento da economia mundial é de 2,7% em 2017, estimulado pela indústria e comércio, aumento da confiança do mercado e estabilização do preço de commodities. Para 2018, a previsão de expansão do PIB mundial é de 2,9%.
