Brasil pretende eliminar hepatite C até 2030, diz ministro da Saúde

O ministro da Saúde, Ricardo Barros, declarou que o país tem como meta eliminar a hepatite C até 2030, seguindo a recomendação da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS). A erradicação da doença será feita por meio de tratamento, já que não existe vacina que evite a hepatite C. O ministro participou hoje (1°) da Cúpula Mundial de Hepatites 2017 (World Hepatitis Summit), na capital paulista, encontro mundial sobre Hepatite.

A hepatite C é transmitida pelo compartilhamento de seringas contaminadas (ou objeto cortante), transfusão de sangue e relações sexuais desprotegidas. O país tem 155 mil casos notificados, sendo que 57 mil já foram tratados, 25 mil estão em tratamento e 73 mil brasileiros ainda precisam se tratar.

O governo passará a tratar não apenas os pacientes com comprometimento no fígado (estágios F3 e F4), mas também os doentes em estágios iniciais, até mesmo aqueles que ainda não apresentam sintomas. “Vamos distribuir 12 milhões de testes no próximo ano, 200 milhões de pessoas serão testados até 2030”, disse Ricardo Barros.

Além disso, o Ministério da Saúde vai mudar a modalidade de compra do tratamento, passando a adquirir do laboratório a garantia de cura e não apenas o medicamento. “Caberá ao laboratório fazer o acompanhamento do paciente, garantir que ele está tomando o medicamento regularmente para que a cura aconteça e ele possa receber o pagamento”, esclareceu o ministro. O custo foi estimado em US$ 3 mil o tratamento por pessoa.

A Cúpula Mundial de Hepatites reúne, até sexta-feira (3), especialistas em saúde pública e organizações não governamentais para discutir a eliminação das hepatites virais, que são responsáveis por mais de 1 milhão de mortes por ano.
