A Secretaria de Saúde do Distrito Federal (DF) promoveu nesta quinta (3), na Galeria dos Estados, uma das estações do metrô de Brasília, a Hora do Mamaço. É a sexta edição do evento, que integra as comemorações da Semana Mundial de Aleitamento Materno no DF e o Agosto Dourado, período em que se procura fazer com que as mães sintam-se à vontade para amamentar, sem se acanhar diante do julgamento de estranhos.
Ao falar sobre o mamaço, a coordenadora do Programa Metrô Solidário, Lívia Vasco, lembrou a responsabilidade social do metrô. “Nesta campanha, a intenção é divulgar a importância do aleitamento materno, de respeitar os espaços para que as mulheres possam amamentar os filhos.” Lívia ressaltou que toda mudança de cultura enfrenta resistência em alguns grupos e que, por isso, o mamaço é uma ação importante para que a sociedade perceba que este é um direito da criança. “É o direito à alimentação”, afirmou.
Já repreendida por outra mulher, em um shopping, a arquiteta Karina Cavalcante, mãe de Íris, de um ano, disse que sempre amamentou a filha em público. “Eu não tinha pudor, embora as pessoas tenham”. Karina, que hoje trabalha com a confecção de slings (peças de tecido que transpassam o colo e as costas da mãe, facilitando o transporte da criança), é também doula (mulher que auxilia outra mulher durante a gravidez, o parto e o pós-parto) e participa de discussões sobre o aleitamento.
“Sempre vejo relatos parecidos com o meu. Acho difícil uma solução, porque depende de como cada um foi educado, mas movimentos como o mamaço ajudam a fazer com que as pessoas vejam que a amamentação em local público é normal”, afirmou Karina.
O publicitário Matheus Esperon também considera necessárias campanhas para valorizar a amamentação em si. Para o publicitário, a campanha deve ser voltada para as mães e também pensada para conscientizar os homens de que é algo completamente natural. “Fazer textão no Facebook – não tenho nada contra, pelo contrário – é legal e pode impactar, mas, definitivamente, não vai atingir uma parcela relevante de quem precisa. Talvez campanhas do governo sejam uma solução bacana.”
“Pessoas que dizem que as mulheres deveriam se cobrir durante o ato de amamentar deveriam experimentar almoçar com um pano cobrindo a cabeça e o próprio prato, para ter um mínimo de noção do absurdo de uma sugestão dessas”, afirmou Esperon.
O constrangimento gerado por olhares que chegam a sexualizar as mães tem como forte componente a cultura do país. Três dias no Brasil já foram suficientes para que a pediatra moçambicana Sônia Bandeira se impressionasse com o desassossego que a situação causa em muitas pessoas. “Vi isso no Brasil e fiquei horrorizada. É um absurdo! Em Moçambique, as mulheres são livres para amamentar onde quiserem. Simplesmente, não há espaço para esse comportamento. Não é justo privar a criança de alimento. Lá, há leis do governo que determinam a lactação exclusiva durante os primeiros seis meses de vida.”
“A gente acaba recebendo influência norte-americana. Nos Estados Unidos, há pouca amamentação, e as mulheres amamentam em locais fechados. Nós temos uma liberdade maior, mas ainda existe muito constrangimento”, destacou a coordenadora do Programa de Aleitamento da Secretaria de Saúde, Miriam Santos.
Miriam citou um levantamento feito em São Paulo com consultas a passageiros do metrô. “Muitas pessoas declararam ficar envergonhadas. E a surpresa: a maior parte que revelou isso era de mulheres. Então, a gente precisa empoderar nossas mulheres. Ninguém questiona [a nudez] do carnaval, mas amamentar em público incomoda.”
Para atrair mais público ao evento, a organização decidiu unir à ação a oferta de serviços como shantala, uma modalidade de massagem para o bebê, a aferição de pressão intraocular, testagem de tipo sanguíneo e de nível glicêmico. As equipes de orientação às lactantes e as que fazem os exames estarão disponíveis até as 18h. Para sábado (5), está previsto um novo mamaço, organizado no shopping Pátio Brasil, das 15h às 18h.
Na próxima semana, o governo do Distrito Federal deve iniciar a distribuição de kits de amamentação, compostos por um recipiente plástico e uma cartilha contendo orientações, em duas estações do metrô de Águas Claras, uma da Asa Sul, uma de Ceilândia e outra remessa em Samambaia.
A secretaria convidou as mães assistidas pelos postos de coleta de leite humano de Samambaia, região administrativa do DF, para participar do mamaço, oferecendo transporte, mas o grupo não compareceu. No evento, houve também com uma apresentação de sling dance.
Restrições na amamentação
No Agosto Dourado, destacam-se ainda as vantagens do aleitamento para o bebê e a mãe.Um dos benefícios é a redução de suscetibilidade da criança a infecções. Segundo a revista médica britânica The Lancet, a cada ano, 820 mil vidas poderiam ser salvas com a melhoria das práticas do aleitamento.
Um documento da Sociedade Brasileira de Pediatria (SBP), lançado na última terça-feira (1º), comprovou que, diferentemente do que se apregoa, mulheres com quadro de doenças bacterianas, parasitárias ou virais não precisam interromper a amamentação para evitar a contaminação de seus filhos.
Foi descoberto que, quando o diagnóstico é de febre amarela, Influenza e infecção por herpes, não há necessidade de desmame. Quando a mãe sofre de doenças diarreicas, embora se pense que a suspensão da amamentação é recomendável, não é verdade. No caso de infecções graves, como meningite, osteomieliete e septicemia, exige-se interrupção temporária, de 24 a 96 horas, após o início do tratamento.
A contraindicação da amamentação é mantida, porém, nas fases agudas da doença de Chagas, já que o parasita pode ser transmitido para o leite. A SBP divulgará mais três estudos ao longo deste mês.
