O cantor e compositor Carlos Gomes Belchior Fontenelle Fernandes, conhecido como Belchior, morreu na madrugada de hoje (30), aos 70 anos, no Rio Grande do Sul.

Um dos ícones da MPB, Belchior, natural de Sobral, no Ceará, é autor de sucessos como Medo de Avião, Apenas um Rapaz Latino-Americano e Como Nossos Pais. Ainda não há informações sobre a causa da morte.

Em nota publicada nas redes sociais, o governador do Ceará, Camilo Santana, lamentou a morte do cantor e decretou luto oficial de três dias no estado.

“Recebi com profundo pesar a notícia da morte do cantor e compositor cearense Belchior. Nascido em Sobral, foi um ícone da música popular brasileira e um dos primeiros cantores nordestinos de MPB a se destacar no país, com mais de 20 discos gravados. O povo cearense enaltece sua história, agradece imensamente por tudo que fez e pelo legado que deixa para a arte do nosso Ceará e do Brasil”, disse Santana.
