A China inaugurou nesta sexta (30) na cidade de Harbin, no nordeste do país, o maior complexo de esqui coberto do mundo com 80 mil metros quadrados, dos quais 60 mil correspondem às pistas de neve.
O projeto faz parte do complexo turístico Cidade Wanda de Harbin, do conglomerado chinês Wanda, e custou cerca de 20 bilhões de iuanes (US$ 2,95 bilhões). No mesmo local também foi inaugurado hoje um parque temático de inspiração russa, que a firma quer integrar dentro do popular Festival de Gelo e Neve do país, que atrai dezenas de milhares de turistas todo inverno.
O grupo Wanda, conhecido na Espanha pela sua participação acionária de 20% no Atlético de Madri, planeja fazer deste destino um “centro turístico de nível mundial”, segundo o seu presidente, Wang Jianlin.
Com seis pistas e capacidade para receber 3 mil pessoas por dia, o complexo de esqui coberto quer se tornar uma referência deste esporte durante todo o ano, não apenas no inverno e não só para turistas chineses, mas também para japoneses e coreanos, explicou em um encontro com a imprensa o vice-presidente da divisão cultural da Wanda, Andrew Lam.
A Wanda inclusive está em contato com o comitê encarregado da organização dos Jogos Olímpicos de Inverno de 2022, que acontecerão na China, com a possibilidade de abrigar alguns dos eventos.
“Os membros do Comitê Olímpico Nacional nos visitaram há duas semanas para ver as instalações”, revelou Lam, assegurando que é “bastante provável” que o complexo faça parte da sede, já que é “absolutamente compatível com a competição”.
A equipe nacional de esqui da China também mostrou interesse em fazer destas pistas cobertas uma das suas bases de treinamento, com o que se uniria aos mais “de 30 clubes” que já assinaram acordos com a Wanda para poder praticar este esporte no local fora da temporada de inverno.
As autoridades de Harbin e da província de Heilongjiang, da qual é capital, também assinaram acordos com a Wanda para que o complexo turístico se torne sede de eventos como o Festival da Cerveja e a Maratona Internacional da cidade.
