Contas mais caras: energia elétrica tem bandeira vermelha no mês de abril

Os consumidores de energia elétrica vão pagar R$ 3 a mais para cada 100 quilowatts-hora (kWh) consumidos no mês de abril. É que este mês vai vigorar a bandeira tarifária vermelha patamar 1, que é usada quando é preciso acionar usinas termelétricas mais caras, por causa da falta de chuvas.

É a primeira vez neste ano que a bandeira vermelha é ativada. Em março, a bandeira tarifária em vigor foi a amarela, com adicional de R$ 2 para cada 100 kWh e, anteriormente, a bandeira era a verde, sem custo extra para o consumidor.

Segundo a Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (Aneel), o sistema de bandeiras tarifárias sinaliza o custo real da energia gerada, possibilitando aos consumidores o uso consciente. As cores verde, amarela ou vermelha (nos patamares 1 e 2) indicam se a energia custará mais ou menos em função das condições de geração de eletricidade.

Como funcionam as bandeiras

O sistema de bandeiras tarifárias foi criado em 2015 como forma de recompor os gastos extras com a utilização de energia de usinas termelétricas, que é mais cara do que a de hidrelétricas. A cor da bandeira é impressa na conta de luz (vermelha, amarela ou verde) e indica o custo da energia em função das condições de geração.

Quando chove menos, por exemplo, os reservatórios das hidrelétricas ficam mais vazios e é preciso acionar mais termelétricas para garantir o suprimento de energia no país. Nesse caso, a bandeira fica amarela ou vermelha, de acordo com o custo de operação das termelétricas acionadas.
