A Coreia do Norte informou nesta segunda (01) que vai impulsionar “à velocidade máxima” seu programa de armas nucleares, em resposta à crescente pressão exercida sobre o país por parte do presidente americano, Donald Trump. A informação é da Agência EFE.
“Agora que os Estados Unidos [EUA] estão fazendo muito ruído a favor de mais sanções e pressão contra a República Popular Democrática da Coreia (RPDC, nome oficial da Coreia do Norte), de acordo com sua nova política de máxima pressão e compromisso”, o país asiátiaco “vai acelerar ao máximo as medidas para reforçar o programa nuclear”, disse em comunicado um porta-voz do Ministério de Relações Exteriores.
O texto, publicado nesta segunda-feira pela agência estatal de notícias KCNA, assegura que essas medidas podem ser adotadas “a qualquer momento e em qualquer lugar”.
A mensagem da Coreia do Norte chega em momento de tensão diante do temor de que país faça o sexto teste nuclear, enquanto continua com seus testes de mísseis.
Já os EUA afirmam que não descartam uma ação militar em resposta às provocações e enviou um porta-aviões nuclear à região.
O porta-voz do Ministério de Relações Exteriores norte-coreano acusou o governo Trump de elevar a tensão e reafirmou que a Coreia do Norte está “plenamente preparada” para responder a qualquer ação militar norte-americana.
“A agressividade histérica americana nunca tinha alcançado tal nível na península da Coreia e nunca tinha se aproximado tanto da borda de uma guerra nuclear”, diz o comunicado.
A Coreia do Norte fez um total de cinco testes nucleares desde 2006, os dois últimos em janeiro e setembro de 2016.
O regime do líder Kim Jong-un sempre justificou o programa de armas nucleares como uma medida de proteção ao que considera uma atitude hostil dos EUA, a quem acusa repetidamente de fazer exercícios militares na península da Coreia com o objetivo de invadir o país.
