Desemprego diminui, mas país ainda tem quase 14 milhões de desempregados

A população desocupada chegou a 13,8 milhões de pessoas, permanecendo estável em relação a fevereiro e crescendo 20,4% em relação a maio de 2016 (2,3 milhões de pessoas a mais). A taxa de desemprego no país ficou em 13,3% no trimestre encerrado em maio deste ano. Os dados são da Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios (Pnad) Contínua, divulgada nesta sexta (30) pelo IBGE. Esta foi a maior taxa de desocupação para um trimestre encerrado em maio desde o início da série da pesquisa, em 2012. Na comparação com o trimestre encerrado em maio de 2016, no entanto, houve um aumento de 2,1 pontos percentuais, já que naquela ocasião a taxa havia sido de 11,2%.

O nível de ocupação, que é o percentual de pessoas ocupadas em idade de trabalhar, também atingiu o menor nível da série histórica da pesquisa para trimestres encerrados em maio (53,4%). Em relação a maio de 2016, houve queda de 1,3 ponto percentual (54,7%).

Segundo a Pnad, a população desocupada chegou a 13,8 milhões de pessoas, permanecendo estável em relação a fevereiro e crescendo 20,4% em relação a maio de 2016 (2,3 milhões de pessoas a mais).

A população ocupada, de 89,7 milhões, também manteve-se em relação a fevereiro, mas caiu 1,3% (menos 1,2 milhão de pessoas) em relação a maio de 2016. Os empregos com carteira assinada somaram 33,3 milhões, 1,4% a menos do que fevereiro (menos 479 mil pessoas) e 3,4% a menos do que maio de 2016 (menos 1,2 milhão de pessoas).
