Um deslizamento de terra ocorrido neste sábado, na província de Sichuan, no sudoeste da China, provocou o desabamento de dezenas de casas e deixou pelo menos 120 desaparecidos, de acordo com informações da agência estatal Xinhua.
As autoridades do condado de Maoxian comunicaram que o incidente ocorreu depois que a parte alta de uma montanha caiu sobre a aldeia de Xinmo, por volta das 6h (horário local, 19h de Brasília de sexta-feira).
Pelo menos 62 casas ficaram soterradas, e dois quilômetros do curso de um rio e 1,6 mil metros de uma estrada ficaram sob as rochas.
Segundo informou o governo local, o deslizamento ocorreu devido às intensas chuvas na região.
Inicialmente, a Xinhua informou que havia 141 desaparecidos, mas depois a reduziu para 120 sem detalhar se as demais pessoas foram resgatadas.
Por outro lado, a agência estatal afirmou que três pessoas de uma mesma família foram resgatadas cinco horas após o deslizamento de terra, e levadas a um hospital sem ferimentos graves, mas que outro filho da família permanece soterrado na casa.
De acordo com o porta-voz do governo de Sichuan, Tang Limin, uma equipe de resgate com mais de mil pessoas seguiu para o local com retroescavadeiras e um instrumento de detecção de vida.
Imagens divulgadas pela emissora de televisão oficial CCTV mostram diversos soldados levantando pesadas pedras e várias retroescavadeiras trabalhando na região onde estavam as pessoas que ficaram soterradas.
O governo provincial iniciou o nível mais alto de resposta de socorro em caso de desastre, e o presidente do país, Xi Jinping, ordenou que se ponham todos os esforços no resgate dos possíveis sobreviventes.
“As autoridades devem esforçar-se ao máximo para reduzir as baixas e prevenir desastres secundários”, disse Xi Jinping, que acrescentou que os desaparecidos e os que sofram perdas pelo desastre “devem receber o cuidado apropriado”.
Nesta época do ano, são frequentes as chuvas torrenciais na China e é comum que ocorram inundações, deslizamentos e outras catástrofes provocadas pelos fenômenos climáticos.
Segundo informou neste sábado a Xinhua, nas províncias de Hunan e Hubei, no centro da China, as inundações provocadas pelas chuvas dos dois últimos dias afetaram 466.500 pessoas e haviam causado pelo menos duas mortes.
