Pesquisa diz que 123 milhões com 15 anos ou mais não praticam esportes no Brasil.

O Espírito Santo é o segundo estado do sudeste onde mais se pratica esportes. Atrás de Minas Gerais e na frente de São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro. No Brasil, o estado é o décimo.

Os dados fazem parte do estudo Pnad 2015: Prática de Esporte e Atividade Física, que o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) divulgou nesta sexta (17), no Rio de Janeiro, com dados extraídos a partir da Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios (Pnad) daquele ano.

O estudo mostra que de cada dez brasileiros, acima de 15 anos, sete não praticam nenhum tipo de atividade física. Os principais motivos são desinteresse ou falta de tempo.

Entre setembro de 2014 e setembro de 2015, os jovens e adultos com 15 anos ou mais de idade que não praticavam qualquer tipo de esporte ou atividade física eram 122,9 milhões de pessoas, o equivalente a 76% da população de 161,8 milhões de brasileiros nesta faixa etária. Do total, 70,1 milhões eram mulheres, o equivalente a 83,1% da população feminina do país de 15 anos ou mais por ocasião da pesquisa.

Os números divulgados revelam que, em 2015, no Brasil, 61,3 milhões de pessoas de 15 anos ou mais de idade – o equivalente a 37,9% do total de 161,8 milhões de pessoas nesta faixa etária – praticavam algum tipo de esporte ou atividade física, dos quais 53,9% eram homens e 46,1% mulheres.

O estudo constatou que a prática é mais frequente na faixa de idade entre 15 a 17 anos, onde mais de 50% dos entrevistados responderam ter praticado algum esporte ou atividade física no período de 365 dias de referência, enquanto na faixa etária de 60 anos ou mais este percentual era de mais de 27%.

A pesquisa decorre de convênio do Ministério do Esporte com o IBGE, que investigou a prática de esportes e atividades físicas por pessoas de 15 anos ou mais, identificando o tipo de esporte ou atividade física praticada, perfil dos praticantes, motivação, local de prática, frequência, duração, participação em competições e outros aspectos.

Também foram investigadas as pessoas que não realizaram esporte, identificando o motivo de não praticar e se tinham praticado anteriormente. “A quantidade de pessoas que não praticam e nunca praticaram qualquer tipo de esporte ou atividade física chamou bastante atenção: ela decorre da falta de tempo ou mesmo de interesse e tem maior ou menos influência de acordo com a idade. Entre os jovens de 15 a 17 anos, por exemplo, é a falta de interesse que motiva o sedentarismo. Já entre as pessoas com mais idade têm como motivo maior a falta de tempo”, disse o analista da Coordenação de Trabalho e Rendimento do IBGE, Leonardo Quaresma.

Escolaridade e renda

Outra constatação importante envolve o nível de escolaridade que apresentou relação inversa com a ausência de prática esportiva: entre as pessoas sem instrução, a proporção das que não praticaram algum esporte foi de 91%, caindo para 64,9% entre aquelas com nível superior completo.

Essa mesma relação foi observada ao se avaliar o rendimento mensal domiciliar per capita: entre as pessoas na classe sem rendimento a menos de meio salário mínimo, 78,7% não praticaram algum esporte, registrando-se, na Região Sul, o caso mais elevado (82,4%). Já entre as da classe de 5 salários mínimos ou mais, essa proporção caiu para 60,2%.

“Há uma identificação bem clara da influência do nível de escolaridade com a prática de esporte e ou de atividade física. Imagino que isso tem a ver com questões de escolaridade, renda e até mesmo cultural. A pratica de esporte é também uma coisa cultural e isto está presente, por exemplo, no futebol. É um lazer enraizado na população: jogar bola”, admite Quesada.

Ainda do ponto de vista da escolaridade, o estudo comprovou que o percentual de pessoas praticantes de algum esporte ou atividade física foi crescendo conforme o grau de instrução, saindo dos 17,3% relativos às pessoas sem instrução, passando pelo percentual de 36,6% das que tinham ensino fundamental completo, pelos 43% que tinham ensino médio completo, até chegar aos 56,7% relativos aos com ensino superior completo.

Por estado e região

Entre as 61,3 milhões de pessoas que em 2015 praticavam algum esporte ou atividade física, o equivalente a 37,9% da população na faixa de 15 anos ou mais de idade, o maior percentual de praticantes estava concentrado nas Regiões Sul e Centro-Oeste, com 40,8% e 41,1% do total, respectivamente. Já os menores percentuais ficavam nas Regiões Nordeste (36,3%), Norte (36,6%) e Sudeste (37,5%).

Surpreendentemente, entre os estados, o que acusou o maior percentual de pessoas de 15 anos ou mais praticantes de esporte foi o Amazonas. Lá, 32,2% da população nesta faixa etária praticaram algum esporte. Já as menores taxas foram observadas no Rio de Janeiro (18,9%) e Alagoas (19%).

O Amazonas também se destaca quando a pesquisa avalia a pratica de esporte ou atividade física por sexo. Naquele estado, foram registradas participações de 42% dos homens (a maior taxa do Brasil) e 22,4% das mulheres como praticantes de esporte ou atividade física. No que diz respeito às mulheres, valores ainda mais expressivos ocorreram em Mato Grosso do Sul (23,3%), Mato Grosso (23,6%) e Santa Catarina (24,3%).

Principal esporte

No chamado país do futebol, o futebol o esporte favorito e a principal modalidade esportiva para 15,3 milhões de pessoas que tinham por habito praticar alguma atividade esportiva ou física em 2015.

Segundo o levantamento do IBGE, este número representou 39,3% dos 38,8 milhões de praticantes de algum esporte no país. Em segundo lugar, destacou-se a caminhada como modalidade mais citada, com 9,5 milhões de pessoas praticantes, o equivalente a 24,6% da população praticante de algum esporte.

Para o técnico do IBGE, Leonardo Quaresma, a pratica de esporte é também uma coisa cultural e isto está presente no futebol. “É um lazer enraizado na população jogar bola. A caminhada também é uma das atividades físicas mais praticadas, mas aí entra também a questão financeira. Ela é bem democrática, você coloca um tênis e caminha. É uma prática presente tanto entre os homens e as mulheres, embora mais entre as mulheres” ressaltou.

O futebol foi o preferido por homens, correspondendo a 94,5% dos praticantes dessa modalidade. Para os homens, vale destacar sua participação decrescente nas seguintes modalidades: ciclismo (75,2%); lutas e artes marciais (70%); e atletismo (64,5%).

Já entre as mulheres, os quatro esportes predominantemente praticados em ordem decrescente, foram a dança e o ballet (85%); ginástica rítmica e artística (80,5%); caminhada (65,5%) e fitness (academias de ginástica: 64,4%).

Outra constatação do IBGE é a de que quanto mais jovem a população, maior a representatividade do futebol na prática de esporte. No grupo de 15 a 17 anos, a modalidade representou 64,5%, e, no grupo de 18 a 24 anos, 57,6%.

As frequências declinam a partir dessa faixa etária, sendo registrados 41,4% no grupo de 25 a 39 anos; 24,1% de 40 a 59 anos; e 4,9% entre as pessoas de 60 anos ou mais. Comportamento oposto foi observado relativamente à caminhada, que, para os mais jovens, representou 4,7% da prática da atividade, subindo até 59,6% para a população mais idosa.

Mesmo com distribuição geográfica bem diversificada, o futebol predominou e foi o esporte mais citado em todas as grandes regiões do país. Ainda assim, a Região Norte destacou-se por ter mais da metade de praticantes nessa modalidade (55,9%); seguida pelas Regiões Nordeste (48,8%); Sul (35,1%); Sudeste (33,3%); e Centro-Oeste (32,9%),

Logo a seguir aparece a caminhada como modalidade mais citada, atingindo 9,5 milhões dentre as 24,6 milhões de pessoas praticantes de alguma atividade no Brasil. O menor percentual foi anotado na Região Norte (21,2%), e o maior, na Região Centro-Oeste (29,2%).

Qualidade de vida

Segundo o levantamento, 11,2 milhões de pessoas (28,9%) apontaram como principal motivo para a prática de algum esporte a necessidade de relaxar ou se divertir, sendo tal justificativa mais comum entre os homens (37,8%) do que entre as mulheres (13,5%).

O segundo principal motivo, apontado por 10,4 milhões de pessoas (ou 26,8%), foi melhorar a qualidade de vida ou o bem-estar, sendo invertida, neste caso, a distribuição entre os sexos: 20% entre os homens e 38,4% entre as mulheres.

Já a frequência da prática de esporte foi maior entre as mulheres com 32,7% em quatro vezes ou mais por semana, superando a participação dos homens (22,6%).

Com relação ao tempo, 43,4% das pessoas de 15 anos ou mais de idade dedicavam mais de uma hora do seu tempo livre a tal atividade; 40,4% faziam os exercícios no período de mais de 40 minutos a uma hora, e somente 2% faziam esporte por até 20 minutos.

Outra constatação: no Brasil, 5,7 milhões de pessoas participaram de alguma competição esportiva, o equivalente a 14,6% da população praticante de algum tipo de esporte. As mulheres registraram uma participação bem menos expressiva que os homens, tanto em termos absolutos (945 mil contra 4,7 milhões) quanto relativos (6,6% contra 19,2%).

Investimento público

A Pesquisa Suplementar Prática de Esporte e Atividade Física-Pnad 2015 constatou ainda que, para 118,6 milhões de brasileiros, o poder público deveria investir mais em atividades físicas ou esportivas, mas, por outro lado, 14,7% das pessoas envolvidas no estudo opinaram que o governo não deveria investir em tais atividades, enquanto 12% informaram não ter opinião.

Dentre os 118,6 milhões de pessoas que opinaram a favor do investimento público em atividades físicas ou esportivas, 108 milhões (91,1%) gostariam que o poder público priorizasse essas atividades para as pessoas em geral. Somente 9,5 milhões (8%) opinaram que tais atividades deveriam ser priorizadas para a formação de atletas.

Entre as 23,8 milhões de pessoas que disseram que não gostariam que o poder público investisse mais em atividades físicas ou esportivas, 57,8% defenderam que esses investimentos fossem direcionados para a área de saúde, 21,3% para a segurança pública e 16,5% para a educação.
