Pessoas imunizadas contra febre amarela podem visitar Parque do Caparaó

Apenas os visitantes que estiverem vacinados contra febre amarela – e portarem documento oficial comprovando isso – poderão visitar o Parque Nacional do Caparaó, na divisa dos estados de Minas Gerais e do Espírito Santo. A medida de restrição foi publicada pelo Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) no Diário Oficial da União (DOU) de hoje (1°). A restrição do acesso valerá até o fim do atual surto da doença na região.

 

A decisão de fechar o parque teve como objetivo resguardar a saúde da população por causa do surto de febre amarela registrado na região. O Parque Nacional de Caparaó havia sido fechado pelo mesmo motivo entre os dias  2 e 25 de fevereiro, quando foi aberto para visitantes que apresentassem documento oficial de imunização contra a doença. No entanto a portaria autorizando o acesso restrito, datada do dia 23, só foi publicada hoje no DOU, após o parque já ter recebido os visitantes.

 

O Parque Nacional do Caparaó abrange quatro municípios no lado mineiro (Alto Caparaó, Caparaó, Alto Jequitibá e Espera Feliz) e seis no lado capixaba (Iúna, Ibitirama, Irupi, Dores do Rio Preto, Divino de São Lourenço Guaçuí e Alegre).

 

Quatro outras unidades de conservação federais tiveram estado de alerta decretado: as reservas biológicas Sooretama e Comboios e a Floresta Nacional de Goytacazes, em Linhares, e o Monumento Natural Pontões Capixabas, entre Água Branca e Pancas, todas no Espírito Santo. Todas estão localizadas em municípios limítrofes à região atingida pelo surto.

 

Macacos sentinelas

 

Preocupado em evitar o assassinato de macacos, o ICMBio tem feito alertas de que, assim como os humanos, os macacos não transmitem o vírus causador da febre amarela, e que esses primatas exercem a importante função de sentinelas, alertando para o surgimento da doença na região, quando encontrados mortos. Nesse sentido, adverte o órgão, “os macacos devem ser preservados” para ajudar no combate à doença.
