Aproximadamente 500 cirurgias oftalmológicas eletivas foram feitas no primeiro mês do mutirão realizado pela Secretaria de Estado da Saúde (Sesa). A Sesa fez um levantamento dos pacientes que já haviam passado por consultas e exames e estavam com a indicação de cirurgia, e são essas pessoas que estão sendo atendidas no mutirão. Até dezembro, será realizado um total de 6.510 procedimentos, beneficiando 3.600 pessoas – já que algumas delas precisam de cirurgia nos dois olhos. O investimento para realização de todos esses procedimentos será de R$ 6.115.058,99, sendo R$ 4.819.778,99 do governo federal e R$ 1.295.280 do governo estadual.
O subsecretário de Estado da Assistência em Saúde, Fabiano Marily, explicou que as cirurgias que estão sendo ofertadas no mutirão – catarata, pterígio, vitrectomia (retina) e estrabismo – são realizadas durante todo o ano e continuam acontecendo, em paralelo ao mutirão, por meio de contrato com cinco hospitais: o Hospital Estadual Dr. Jayme Santos Neves, a Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Vitória, os hospitais Evangélico de Vila Velha e Evangélico de Cachoeiro de Itapemirim e o Hospital Universitário Cassiano Antonio Moraes (Hucam). Por ano, são ofertadas 14.880 cirurgias e repassados R$ 14.554.580,04 para esses hospitais para que eles realizem os procedimentos.
“O objetivo do mutirão é ampliar o acesso à cirurgia oftalmológica e reduzir o tempo de espera pelo procedimento. Neste mutirão, estão sendo atendidos pacientes que já passaram por consultas e exames e estão com a indicação de cirurgia. Quem ainda não tem diagnóstico deve seguir o fluxo do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) para acesso ao serviço: ir até a unidade de saúde mais próxima de sua residência, ser avaliado pelo médico e encaminhado para o especialista. Após esta avaliação, se for necessário cirurgia, o paciente será encaminhado para o hospital de referência para realização do procedimento”, detalhou Marily.
A catarata é uma opacidade parcial ou total do cristalino ocular, e a cirurgia consiste na quebra e aspiração desse cristalino opaco utilizando um aparelho com ultrassom e implantação de uma lente intraocular dobrável por meio de uma microincisão realizada na córnea.
O pterígio é o crescimento de um tecido da conjuntiva (tecido que cobre a parte branca do olho) sobre a córnea. Esse tecido cobre a parte branca do olho e cresce sobre a córnea (parte transparente do olho). A cirurgia é feita em centro cirúrgico, com anestesia local.
A vitrectomia é uma cirurgia realizada para o tratamento de várias doenças oftalmológicas, como descolamento de retina, tromboses venosas, hemorragia vítrea e buraco macular.
Já o estrabismo é o desvio de um dos olhos da direção correta, e a cirurgia visa melhorar o alinhamento dos olhos.
