A nova estrada vai permitir a ligação da região do Contorno diretamente à Reta do Aeroporto, reduzindo o tráfego de veículos na região de Carapina. A via com três quilômetros de extensão deve aumentar a segurança no trânsito, reduzir o número de acidentes e diminuir o tempo de viagem. Já que o trajeto é muito usado por caminhões com cargas pesadas e também será uma via que vai agilizar a viagem de motoristas que seguem da Serra para a capital do Estado.
De acordo com estimativas os motoristas que circulam na região ganharão até 30 minutos por viagem com a nova via.
Foram investidos cerca de R$ 4,0 milhões nas obras do contorno de Carapina.
