Todos os anos, durante o verão europeu, Portugal sofre com incêndios florestais. Este ano o período crítico começou em 22 de junho e se estende até o dia 30 de setembro. Nesta terça (22), quase todas as regiões do país estão em alerta laranja (risco elevado de incêndios) e vermelho (risco muito elevado), de acordo com informações do Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA).
Portugal classifica o risco de incêndios numa escala com cinco níveis, que varia entre o “reduzido” e o “máximo”. As cinco cores da tabela, que representam o risco crescente, são: verde, amarelo, laranja, vermelho e roxo.
Nesta terça (22), apenas 7 dos 278 concelhos (municípios) portugueses no continente – há concelhos também nas ilhas da Madeira e Açores – estão com risco reduzido de incêndios. Quase todo o país está em alerta laranja, vermelho e roxo, com risco elevado de incêndios.
A Autoridade Nacional de Proteção Civil (ANPC) registra hoje, em sua página da internet, 209 ocorrências de incêndios, com mais de dois mil homens trabalhando, 160 veículos e 10 aeronaves envolvidas no combate e prevenção de incêndios.
Todos os anos, durante os períodos críticos de incêndios, a Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) lança campanhas de sensibilização da população, para que não queimem lixo ou outros materiais nas florestas; que não façam uso de fogareiros ou churrasqueiras e que não fumem em áreas florestais; e que não soltem fogos de artifício ou qualquer outro tipo de objeto que produza faíscas. No último fim de semana, a GNR deteve duas pessoas por provocar incêndios.

Há pouco mais de dois meses, no dia 17 de junho deste ano, o país sofreu o pior incêndio de sua história: a tragédia de Pedrógão Grande, que ainda está muito viva na memória.
