A violência doméstica é responsável pela morte de cinco mulheres por hora no mundo, mostra a organização não governamental (ONG) Action Aid. A informação é resultado de análise do estudo global de crimes das Nações Unidas e indica um número estimado de 119 mulheres assassinadas diariamente por um parceiro ou parente.
A ActionAid prevê que mais de 500 mil mulheres serão mortas por seus parceiros ou familiares até 2030. O documento faz um apelo a governos, doadores e à comunidade internacional para que se unam a fim de dar prioridade a ações que preservem os diretos das mulheres. O estudo considera dados levantados em 70 países e revela que, apesar de diversas campanhas pelo mundo, a violência ou a ameaça dela ainda é uma realidade diária para milhões de mulheres.
“A intenção do relatório é fazer um levantamento sobre as diversas formas de violência que a mulher sofre no mundo. Na África, por exemplo, temos países que até hoje têm práticas de mutilação genital. Aqui, na América Latina, o Brasil é o quinto país em violência contra as mulheres. Segundo dados do Instituto Avon, três em cada cinco mulheres já sofreram violência nos relacionamentos em nosso país”, informa a assistente do programa de direitos das mulheres da Action Aid Brasil, Jéssica Barbosa.
O relatório considera as diferenças regionais entre os países e, além disso, observa o universo de denúncias subnotificadas, de mulheres que sofrem assédio, estupro ou outros tipos de violência e têm vergonha de denunciar.
“A forma de contar é sempre muito difícil, existe uma cultura de silenciar a violência contra a mulher. É a cultura da naturalização, onde há um investimento social para naturalizar a violência contra a mulher com o que se ouve na música, nas novelas, na rua. Tudo isso é muito banalizado e a mulher se questiona: ‘será que o que aconteceu comigo foi uma violência? Será que se eu denunciar vão acreditar em mim?”, diz Jéssica Barbosa.
No Brasil, a organização promove a campanha Cidade Segura para as Mulheres, que busca o compromisso do Poder Público com uma cidade justa e igualitária para todos os gêneros.
“Muitas mulheres não conseguem exercer seu direito de ir e vir. A cidade não foi pensada para as mulheres, os becos são muito estreitos e escuros no Brasil. É necessário que haja o empoderamento das mulheres para superar a situação de violência. Por mais que o Estado tenha a obrigação de garantir instrumentos, é preciso que a gente invista na autonomia dessas mulheres”, acrescenta Jéssica.
